The long-awaited progression of South Gloucestershire Council's New Local Plan has taken a significant step forward following the publication of the government's updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). This development marks a crucial moment for the county's development strategy for the period 2025-2040.

The Council has now established a clear timeline for the Plan's next stages, with several key dates that all residents should note:

3rd February 2025: The updated Local Plan will be presented to Cabinet for initial review.

12th February 2025: The Plan will go before full Council for consideration.

12th March 2025: This represents the final deadline for the consultation phase, as mandated by the NPPF 2024.

The Council has emphasised its commitment to working within the framework of the new NPPF to deliver necessary housing and infrastructure, while ensuring community involvement in the planning process.

For members of Hanham District Green Belt Conservation Society, this timeline presents a crucial opportunity to engage with the consultation process and ensure our views are heard once again, regarding the protection of our valuable green belt land. The Plan will determine the location of new housing developments across South Gloucestershire for the next 15 years, making it vital that we participate fully in this latest consultation.

We encourage all members and local residents to prepare for the upcoming consultation phase and to make your voices heard in this important process that will shape the future of our area through to 2040.

The Society will provide further updates on our website as soon as more detailed information becomes available and how members and residents can most effectively participate in the public consultation.
