As we approach another crucial year for our cherished Green Belt, we invite you to renew your membership with or join Hanham District Green Belt Conservation Society. Starting from 1st October 2024, annual membership remains just £10 per household, and your continued support will help us protect the natural beauty of Hanham for generations to come.
Why Your Support is Vital
2024 has been a monumental year for the Society. Together with local campaign group Hanham Say No To Redrow, we successfully campaigned against the proposed development of 140 homes on "The Batch" in Hanham. After months of hard work, on Friday 16th August 2024, South Gloucestershire Council refused outline planning permission for the development. This victory was only possible thanks to the passion and dedication of our members, together with the support of local residents.
However, our work is far from over. The Society is currently engaged in a critical battle against the emerging South Gloucestershire Council New Local Plan, which proposes the development of 270 houses across three sites in Hanham Abbots. Our ongoing campaign aims to protect these vital Green Belt areas from irreversible development. We are also preparing for a possible appeal from the developers in relation to the refusal of outline planning permission at "The Batch".
