On Monday 3rd February 2025, South Gloucestershire Council Cabinet met to consider recommending to Full Council SGC's draft Local Plan for a statutory consultation period of six weeks, in accordance with Regulation 19 of the 2012 Town and Country Planning Regulations.
Prior to the meeting, the Society submitted a detailed 10-page statement explaining why the two sites in Hanham - HA1 “The Batch” and HA2 “Land at Castle Inn Farm” - should be removed from the new Local Plan. In addition, two of the Society’s committee members, Alan Jones and Geoff Maggs, addressed Cabinet members in person at the meeting, voicing concerns about the new Local Plan on behalf of Hanham residents.
Once Cabinet had heard all of the public statements, eligible members voted unanimously to recommend to Full Council the draft Local Plan for a statutory public consultation lasting six weeks.
The Regulation 19 Local Plan will be presented to full Council (comprising 61 members) from 7pm on 12 February 2025, ahead of progressing to consultation before 12th March 2025, in accordance with arrangements set out in the NPPF 2024.
During the consultation period members of the public will be able to make their concerns known to the Council. The Society understands that any previous comments made will not be taken into consideration at the Regulation 19 consultation stage and new comments will need to be made.
Details on how to comment on the public consultation will be uploaded to the Society’s website when available. We look forward to your continued support in opposing the Council's plans to include “The Batch” and land at “Castle Inn Farm” in the new Local Plan.
